This Week's Gospel: Mark 1: 14 - 20

Repent and believe the Good News.
The reading comprises the entirety of the first following capitulum, and the first three paragraphs of that following. Only a fraction of a single verse s taken from Mark. The introdution is grossly different, and most of the reading is taken from Matthew and Luke.

XVIII. Ubi Ihesus in synagoga legit librum Esaiæ.
(Where Jesus, in the synagogue, reads from the book of Isaias.)
XVIIII. Ubi Ihesus vocavit Petrum et Andræam Iacobum et Iohannem.
(Where Jesus called Peter and Andrew, and James and John.)

18: 1
And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up:
and he went into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the Sabbath-day:
and he rose up to read,
and the book of Isaias the prophet was delivered unto him.

And as he unrolled the book, he found the place where it was written:
The spirit of the Lord is upon me.
Wherefore he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor,
he hath sent me,
to preach deliverance to the captives and sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,
to preach the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of reward.

And when he had rolled up the book,
he restored it to the minister and sat down.
And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.

And he began to say to them:
So this day is fulfilled this scripture in your ears.

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say:
The time is accomplished, do penance, and believe the gospel,
for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren,
Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,
casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers).

And he saith to them:
Come ye after me, and I will make you to be fishers of men.
And they immediately leaving their nets, followed him.

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren,
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother,
in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets:
and he called them; and they forthwith left their nets and father,
and followed him.
